Dear Community Friends,
The Morgan County Substance Abuse Network and the Volunteer Center are partnering to create a “Morgan County Resources for Youth Guide.” PRIDE Survey results for the three school systems in Morgan County show that alcohol, tobacco, and other substances are most often utilized by youth after school and on weekends. Thus, providing positive activities in the community can prevent youth from having unsupervised free time in which to participate in activities involving substance use/abuse. Morgan County is blessed with many after-school and summer activities for youth; our goal is to have information on these programs readily available for youth and their parents.
Time-line for creating the youth guide:
•
Letters and information forms will be sent to community groups.
•
Responses will be compiled into a rough draft.
•
Red Sage Communications will develop a “Morgan County Resource for Youth Guide” website.
•
Staff will be trained to maintain and update the website.
•
The website will present the guide in a printable version.
•
When funds are available, copies of the resource guide will be printed for community distribution.
Funding for the resource guide is being provided from a Drug Free Communities Support Program Grant awarded to the Morgan County Substance Abuse Network administrated by the Mental Health Association in Morgan County.
We need your help by completing the attached form. Please acknowledge activities and programs that are available for all community youth members to participate in and return to the Mental Health Association. Thank you in advance for your time, we will be contacting you soon.
